The Port of Bécancour, located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, focuses mainly on meeting the needs of industries set up in the Bécancour Waterfront Industrial Park, but also handles various types of cargo for other markets, such as the Great White North.
Accessible year-round, it is used for dry bulk commodities such as alumina, coal, magnesite concentrate and sugar, and for general cargo such as huge wind turbine components, steel, etc.
The Port is equipped with mobile cranes and a roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) loading and unloading ramp on a permanent basis, and a railway allows direct unloading from ships to containers.
It is serviced daily by the Canadian National (CN) and has access to major road systems in Quebec, Canada and the northeastern United States.
